Why You’re Here

What drew you to intern at Ceisler Media?

I was drawn to Ceisler Media because of the incredible group of people that work here, the diverse and interesting clients that Ceisler works for, and the glowing reviews that I had heard about Ceisler when doing some background research.

What are you hoping to get out of this experience?

Through this summer internship, I really hope to refine and hone my PR skills, improve my writing, and also narrow down exactly what it is that I want to do when I graduate. But that all comes second to just being able to enjoy my time here and helping in any way that I can while I am here.

What issue(s) are you most excited to work on?

Last summer I had the opportunity to intern in the Nonprofit sector, and it was the greatest experience. I can’t wait to get my hands into nonprofit work while I am here.

What are your post-graduation goals?

At the end of last summer, I would have said that I want to go into nonprofit PR, but who knows, my answer will probably be at least a little bit different when the end of this summer rolls around.

Fun Facts

Favorite Snack Food: Salt and Vinegar chips

Currently Binge-ing: NCIS (again)

Song stuck in your head: Follow Me (Uncle Kracker), Don’t matter & Locked Up (both by Akon)

Person of the moment: As you can tell by some of the songs I have stuck in my head, I am pretty high on Akon right now. He hasn’t been making music recently, but that’s because he has been working in Africa for the past few years to build solar energy farms in an effort to provide cheap, renewable energy to parts of Africa. He has also been establishing schools to help educate local African’s about how to operate the solar farms. I think that it’s so cool, and he deserves more recognition for it.

Pittsburgh Office

The Basics

Name: Rachel Windsor

University: American University, Washington, D.C.

Major: Political Science, with a concentration in American Government; Minor: International Studies

Expected Graduation Date: May 2020

Favorite class to date: Oral History of the Civil Rights Movement. This class was so unique because I was able to learn about the era from the point of view of activists who were directly involved in the movement. I was even able to conduct and publish my own interview with Claudette Colvin, the first person to resist segregation on buses in Montgomery!

Why You’re Here

What drew you to intern at Ceisler Media?

My two previous internships were in government, and I wanted to learn about politics and the media from a different point of view. I thought Ceisler Media would be a great fit because of their issue advocacy work that is done on behalf of a diverse set of clients. I’m interested in learning about the process of shaping public opinion, media coverage, and public relations.

What are you hoping to get out of this experience?

I hope to learn more about the public relations industry, state and local affairs, and gain hands-on experience working for clients.

What issue(s) are you most excited to work on?

I’m excited to work on issues relating to immigration, reproductive justice, and healthcare.

What are your post-graduation goals?

I plan on attending law school and pursuing public interest and civil rights law.

Larry Ceisler: For Philadelphia, This Moment Feels Different

In the poorest large city in America, optimism can be in short supply.

Even in a business where my colleagues and I have the privilege of telling the stories of incredible clients doing sometimes literally lifesaving work, the forest and the trees can sometimes blend together.

But, once in a while, forces in the city converge that can change almost anyone’s perspective.
