ISSUE
The Cobbs Creek Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization spearheading a $180 million, multi-phase revitalization of the 350-acre Cobbs Creek Golf Course in West Philadelphia, a historic public course with a legacy of inclusion. In 2025, the Cobbs Creek Foundation was planning a large ribbon-cutting event to celebrate the opening of the Smilow Woodland TGR Learning Lab, an educational center opened by Tiger Woods’s TGR Foundation that is located on the Cobbs Creek Campus and offers free programming for local youth. The event featured remarks from high-profile elected officials — Gov. Josh Shapiro and Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker — as well as Tiger Woods himself.
STRATEGY
As part of our work with the Cobbs Creek Foundation, we collaborated with the California-based TGR Foundation on crafting a press release, developing a media list, and conducting pre-event press outreach. By leveraging our strong relationships with local media outlets, the Ceisler team made sure the right reporters had the information they needed to produce strong, high-quality coverage. On the day of the September 2025 event, we supported the Cobbs Creek Foundation and TGR Foundation by managing media logistics such as check-in, press release distribution, and arrangement of on-site interviews.
While the ribbon-cutting was focused on TGR Foundation, our mission was to represent the Cobbs Creek Foundation. The Ceisler team worked to ensure people remembered that the TGR Learning Lab would not be there without the work of the Cobbs Creek Foundation and the broader project to restore the golf course campus — a fact the team also highlighted for reporters as they spoke to individuals throughout the day.
RESULT
The event drew widespread glowing media coverage spanning an audience of 30.5 million viewers and generating over $1.3 million in publicity, with all major local outlets and multiple national outlets attending. The event generated close to 100 digital, broadcast and print clips, with coverage lauding the Cobbs Creek Foundation’s work in revitalizing the course and noting the foundation’s plans to open future phases of the golf course.
